Georgian culture in all its facets showcased in Poland

Visitors and residents of the Polish seaside city Gdańsk will have the opportunity to learn about Georgian dance, music and arts for a week starting this Friday.

A diverse program of activities, screenings and exhibitions at the Georgian Culture Week will encompass all things related to Georgian culture and arts, including showcasing the country’s cinema productions, theatre shows, folk dance performances and more.

The Week will open with a performance of the theatre production The Lady with the Dog, staged by director Levan Tsuladze after the short story by 19th Century Russian author Anton Chekhov.

The show will be hosted by the Gdansk William Shakespeare Theatre, with Georgia’s Culture and Monuments Protection Minister Mikheil Giorgadze and officials from Poland’s Culture Ministry expected to attend.

The exhibition of World War I photographs from the conflict’s Caucasian Front will celebrate Georgia’s first female photographer Nino Jorjadze.

Photography enthusiasts will be invited to see an exhibition of images of the Caucasian Front during World War I, captured by Georgia’s first female photographer Nino Jorjadze.

The week-long occasion will also feature Georgian cuisine and wine as well workshops and master classes about the country’s famous polyphonic folk singing.

The Georgian Culture Week in Poland will conclude on October 16.
