A new brand of Georgian lemonade is set to hit the local and international market at the end of this month.
Ten million GEL was invested in the new lemonade factory in Georgia’s Mtskheta region, which when fully operating, will employ more than 100 internally displaced people (IDPs).
The country’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Economy Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili visited the newly opened factory in Natakhtari village today.
The complex opened within the Government-led ‘Produce in Georgia’ scheme, which aimed to stimulate, support and develop the country’s agricultural sector.
When fully operating, the Georgian Lemonade factory will employ 150 IDPs.
"This factory will use local raw materials. The majority of people employed at the factory are internally displaced people who live in the nearby territory. The factory is oriented on the local market and export at the same time,” said Kvirikashvili.
The facility will produce lemonade under the brand Khiliani and the first products will be ready for sale at the end of July.
Georgian Lemonade will use only Georgian fruit to produce natural Khiliani lemonade. The factory was equipped with modern, European standard technologies and was established by a Georgian businessman who worked abroad.
