More than 300 000 international guests visited Georgia last month.
Latest figures from the Ministry of Internal Affairs revealed 319 499 people visited Georgia in January 2014, which was 14.1% more compared to the same time in 2013.
Of these visitors, 122 714 (38.4%) were tourists, 53 241 (16.6%) were in transit and 143 544 (45%) of visitors came to Georgia for business or other unspecified reasons.
The highest number of visitors came from Turkey, followed by Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia, Ukraine and Iran.
The Ministry said data showed a positive trend where more visitors from European Union countries continued to visit Georgia.
Last month 163% more visitors from Poland touched down in Georgia than in January of the previous year.
Similarly, the number of visitors from Italy, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Middle East – Israel, Belarus and Moldova also increased year on year.
