New charges could be filed against Georgia’s former Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili after a scandalous video showing him address a military group saying he needs "two dead bodies” was leaked last night.

Member of Parliament Irakli Sesiashvili believed the leaked video could become the basis for new charges against Merabishvili, who is currently being held in pre-trial detention for another matter.

"In the video we can clearly see that Merabishvili ordered the killings while at that time he was the Interior Minister and his primary duty was to save people’s lives,” Sesiashvili, the Chairman of the Georgian Parliamentary Defense and Security Committee, said.

It is believed the video was taken when Merabishvili was the Interior Minister, while the former government tried to neutralize a mutiny by a Georgian Army tank Battalion based in Mukhrovani on May 5, 2009, more commonly known as the Mukhrovani Case.

The State Prosecutor’s office has already launched an investigation into the incident shown in the video.

The video, which revealed plans of a special operation by former government members in military uniforms, has spread across social media since it was released late last night, January 29.
