Georgian police have arrested 13 individuals in Tbilisi and other regions of the country on charges of illegal purchase and possession of firearms and ammunition, the Georgian Interior Ministry said on Thursday.
The Ministry revealed the efforts of law enforcements “over the recent period” had resulted in various types of firearms, over 350 cartridges and other illegal ammunition being seized from the persons.
Both the offenders and their residential houses were searched in the effort, with four out of the 13 individuals having previous criminal records.
The crimes are punishable by between three and nine years in prison.
