Police have arrested three individuals for the illegal purchase and possession of firearms and ammunition in the Adjara and Guria regions.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reports that the officers of Khelvachauli District Division of Adjara Police Department and the Customs Department of the Revenue Service arrested two individuals at the Sarpi customs checkpoint. Police officers seized three pistols, three magazines and one cartridge.
Police officers of Ozurgeti District Division arrested a previously convicted individual, identified only as Z.KH., for the illegal purchase and possession of firearms and ammunition.
During a search and seizure at the place of residence of Z.KH., the police officers seized a blow mini-mod 2003 pistol, a magazine and eight ammunition cartridges.
The crime is punishable by three to eight years in prison.
