Police have arrested seven individuals for illegal purchase, possession and carrying of firearms and ammunition in various Georgian regions, the Interior Ministry revealed on Thursday.
The state body said the arrests had been made in the capital of Tbilisi, the eastern province of Kakheti, central Kvemo Kartli and the northwestern Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti.
Out of the seven arrested individuals, four were from Tbilisi and the remaining three from the other regions of the country.
The police also listed three pistols, eight muzzleloaders and 181 ammunition cartridges among the seized weapons.
The crimes are punishable by three to seven years in prison.
