Police have arrested three individuals in four municipalities across Georgia on charges of illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said on Friday.
The release said the offenders had been arrested in the western Samegrelo and Imereti provinces, as well as the north-western Svaneti and central-eastern Shida Kartli.
A Makarov type pistol, dozens of cartridges and other arms were seized during a related search of houses linked to the individuals.
The crime is punishable up to seven years in prison.
