The Investigation Service of Georgia’s Ministry of Finance on Friday said its professionals had arrested a foreign citizen for smuggling a “particularly large” quantity of gold items into the country.
The Service said its investigation had found the offender attempted to illegally smuggle 935 grams of gold items valued at ₾152,241 ($59,364) through the Sadakhlo Border Crossing Point on the country's southern border with Armenia.
The crime is punishable with imprisonment from five to seven years.
