Georgia receives $125m in remittances in February 2019

Georgia received $125.5 million from abroad in February 2018, while remittances leaving Georgia totalled $17.7 million, says the National Bank of Georgia.

Last month Georgia received 10.2% more in remittances than in February of 2018.

Russia ($31.62 million), Italy ($17.44 million) and Greece ($14.16 million) were the largest remittance senders in February 2019.

Overall, the vast majority (92%) of all money transfers from abroad came from 15 countries.

After Russia, Italy and, Grrece other countries regularly sending money transfers to Georgia in February 2019 included:

  • Israel - $12.83 million
  • United States – $12.73 million
  • Turkey - $7.70 million
  • Germany – $3.57 million
  • Spain - $3.48 million
  • Ukraine - $2.33 million
  • Poland - $2.2 million
  • France - $1.86 million
  • Kyrgyzstan - $1.47 million
  • Azerbaijan - $1.42 million
  • United Kingdom - $1.38 million
  • Kazakhstan -$1.28 million
