Georgia receives $144m in remittances in July 2018

Georgia received $144.2 million from abroad in July 2018, while remittances leaving Georgia totalled $ 18.9 million, says the National Bank of Georgia.

Last month Georgia received 19.3 percent more in remittances than in July of 2017.

Russia ($43 million), Italy ($16.3 million) and Greece ($15 million) were the largest remittance senders in July 2018.

Overall, the vast majority (92.8 percent) of all money transfers from abroad came from 16 countries.

After Russia, Italy and Greece, other countries regularly sending money transfers to Georgia in July 2018 included:

  • United States – $14.9 million
  • Israel - $13.4 million
  • Turkey - $10.2 million
  • Spain - $4.2 million
  • Germany – $3.5 million
  • Ukraine - $2.7 million
  • France - $1.8 million
  • Azerbaijan - $1.7 million
  • Poland - $1.7 million
  • Kazakhstan -$1.6 million
  • United Kingdom - $1.4 million
  • Canada - $1.3 million
  • Cyprus - $1.1 million
