Georgia receives $137m in remittances in October 2018

Georgia received $137.2 million from abroad in October 2018, while remittances leaving Georgia totalled $21.2 million, says the National Bank of Georgia.

Last month Georgia received 11.6% more in remittances than in October of 2017.

Russia ($39.66 million), Italy ($16.67 million) and Greece ($15.34 million) were the largest remittance senders in October 2018.

Overall, the vast majority (93.4%) of all money transfers from abroad came from 17 countries.

After Russia, Italy and Greece, other countries regularly sending money transfers to Georgia in October 2018 included:

  • United States – $14.35 million
  • Israel - $11.99 million
  • Turkey - $7.52 million
  • Germany – $3.78 million
  • Spain - $3.44 million
  • Ukraine - $2.65 million
  • Poland - $2.21 million
  • Azerbaijan - $1.86 million
  • France - $1.76 million
  • Kyrgyzstan - $1.68 million
  • United Kingdom - $1.47 million
  • Kazakhstan -$1.42 million
  • Cyprus - $1.27 million 
  • Canada - $1.14 million
