Georgia receives $131m in remittances in September 2018

Georgia received $131.3 million from abroad in September 2018, while remittances leaving Georgia totalled $ 18.9 million, says the National Bank of Georgia.

Last month Georgia received 5.3 per cent more in remittances than in September of 2017.

Russia ($37.70 million), Italy ($16.42 million) and the United States ($14.20 million) were the largest remittance senders in September 2018.

Overall, the vast majority (92.9%) of all money transfers from abroad came from 16 countries.

After Russia, Italy and the United States, other countries regularly sending money transfers to Georgia in September 2018 included:

  • Greece – $14.17 million
  • Israel - $12.50 million
  • Turkey - $7.23 million
  • Spain - $3.36 million
  • Germany – $3.39 million
  • Ukraine - $2.28 million
  • Poland - $2.01 million
  • France - $1.75 million
  • Azerbaijan - $1.56 million
  • Kyrgyzstan - $1.56 million
  • Kazakhstan -$1.46 million
  • United Kingdom - $1.32 million
  • Cyprus - $1.04 million
