Georgia receives $137.1 mln in remittances in April 2019

Georgia received $137.1 million from abroad in April 2019, which is 10.1% more than the amount in April 2018, says the National Bank of Georgia.

Russia ($34.35 million), Italy ($18.44 million) and Greece ($16.34 million) were the largest remittance senders in April 2019.

Overall, the vast majority (93.7%) of all money transfers from abroad came from 17 countries.

After Russia, Italy and, Greece other countries regularly sending money transfers to Georgia in April 2019 included:

  • United States – $14.68 million
  • Israel – $13.33 million
  • Turkey – $7.76 million
  • Spain – $4.01 million
  • Germany – $3.76 million
  • Ukraine – $2.95 million
  • Poland – $2.53 million
  • France – $2.11 million
  • Azerbaijan – $1.75 million
  • United Kingdom – $1.43 million
  • Kyrgyzstan – $1.39 million
  • Kazakhstan – $1.38 million
  • Cyprus – $1.18 million
  • Canada – $1.13 million

In April 2019, remittances leaving Georgia totalled $19.1 million, as compared to $18.5 million in April 2018.
