PM Bakhtadze leaves for US with several high level meetings ahead

PM Bakhtadze will deliver a speech to participants of the 73rd General Debate at a session of the UN General Assembly on September 27.

Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze has left for the United States today to hold several official meetings at the White House.

He will be hosted by the National Security Advisor to the US President John R. Bolton at the White House.

Another meeting with the Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will be held on September 20.

Several meetings with US senators are also planned during the visit. PM Bakhtadze plans to meet with the Administrator of USAID Mark Green, the President of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) Ray Washburne, the World Bank President Jim Yong Kim and IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde.

PM Bakhtadze will deliver a speech to participants of the 73rd General Debate at a session of the UN General Assembly on September 27 and attend the opening ceremony of the session as well.


The annual General Debate of the United Nations General Assembly is an occasion for world leaders to gather at UN Headquarters to discuss global issues.

Mamuka Bakhtadze has also been invited to a reception organised by US President Donald Trump and his wife, which will be attended by the heads of governments attending the 73th session.

Meetings with the US business representatives, the Georgian diaspora and students living in New York are also planned during the PM’s visit to the US.
