Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani has briefed US State Secretary Mike Pompeo regarding the current, severe humanitarian situation in the two occupied regions of Georgia Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia).

The meeting took place in Poland, on the sidelines of the US-led Middle East conference in Warsaw on peace and security yesterday.

I have provided Mike Pompeo with detailed information regarding the current situation in our occupied territories and the illegal activities of Russia. He stated that the US will continue its firm support for Georgia against the occupation,” Zalkaliani said.

Zalkaliani stated that the foreign states presented at the conference have also condemned the Russian invasion in Georgia and Ukraine.

He said that Pompeo expressed his gratitude for sharing the US position by the Georgian government in terms of the unrest in Venezuela, supporting interim President Juan Guaido.

The occupying forces continue the erection of illegal barriers on the Georgian territory and creating obstacle for locals to visit other Georgian regions.
