The Head of the Georgian Central Election Commission (CEC) Tamar Zhvania has stated that about 42 million GEL (16 million USD) will be spent on the upcoming presidential elections.
The presidential elections will be held on October 28.
Zhvania stated that the early announcement of the election date increased the amount of funds required for the elections.
“If the election date had been announced exactly 60 days before the elections, the money necessary for the elections would have been about 39 million GEL,” Zhvania said.
President Giorgi Margvelashvili announced the election date on August 1.
Zhvania stated that out of the total funds about 1.2 million GEL will be spent on trainings, and more than nine million GEL will be allocated to cover the expenses of television advertisements for political parties.
