The New Year’s mood is in full swing in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi, where Santa Clauses have appeared with bicycles.
Cycling Santas is a new project launched yesterday by Tbilisi City Hall.

Tens of people wearing red Santa costumes started their bicycle tour across the city from Pekini Street yesterday.

They are greeting citizens, wishing them well for the upcoming New Year and handing out candies.

Before New Year’s Eve, the Santa Clauses will visit all of the 10 districts of the Georgian capital city.

Yesterday they cycled around Vake, Saburtalo, Didube, Chugureti, Mtatsminda and Nadzaladevi districts while today they will visit Gldani-Nadzaladevi. On December 30, they will bring the New Year’s mood to the residents and guests of Isani-Samgori while on December 31 they will visit Krtsanisi district.

Public transport will be free on New Year’s Eve in Tbilisi so that people attending outdoor celebrations can later get home more easily. The metro system, buses and cable cars at Rike Park will be free of charge from 11am on December 31 through 4am on January 1, Tbilisi City Hall said.
New Year’s celebrations rang in 2018 last night, bringing thousands of local residents and tourists out into the streets.
