Metro, buses, cable car free in Tbilisi on New Year’s Eve

Public transport will be free on New Year’s Eve in Tbilisi so that people attending outdoor celebrations can later get home more easily.

The metro system, buses and cable cars at Rike Park will be free of charge from 11am on December 31 through 4am on January 1, Tbilisi City Hall said.

160 buses will run every 30 minutes taking the passengers to the metro stations, central districts and festive events.

The festive mood is in the air in Tbilisi as the Georgian capital is getting ready to celebrate New Year tonight.

Various festive events will be held in Tbilisi throughout the day at:

  • Dedaena Christmas Town;
  • New Tiflis at Aghmashenebeli Avenue;
  • The suburbs of Gldani and Varketili;
  • Old Tbilisi.

Moreover, cycling Santa Clauses visited all of the 10 districts of the Georgian capital city bringing the New Year’s mood to the residents and guests.
