Georgia will have new ambassadors in 9 countries

The Georgian Foreign Ministry has introduced nine new ambassadorial candidates to represent the country in Switzerland, Spain, Norway, Belarus, Qatar, Argentina, Indonesia, Ethiopia and the South African Republic.
Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili has already signed a decree to introduce the candidates to President Giorgi Margvelashvili for his final approval for their appointment.
Margvelashvili will meet the ambassador candidates today.
Georgia’s new ambassadorial candidates are:
Switzerland: Davit Jalagania. From 2008 to the present Jalagania has been Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia. He has held different leading positions at the ministry since 2000. From 1996-2000 he held leadings positions, including the post of the deputy minister, at the ministry of trade and foreign economic relations of Georgia.
Spain: Ilia Giorgadze. From 2012-2017 he has been Georgia’s Ambassador to Romania. He has held different leading positions at the Foreign Ministry of Georgia since 2005. From 2004-2005 he was deputy director of the international security department at Georgia’s national security council. In 2001-2004 he was director of the judiciary reform and anti-corruption program of the American Bar Association. Earlier he worked at Georgia’s Supreme Court and the Parliamentary Administration in different positions.
Norway: Maia Kipshidze. Since 2012 to the present she has been the director of the Levan Mikeladze Diplomatic Training Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. From 2010-2012 she has been a member of the media projects council of the Open Society Georgia Foundation. In 2006-2011 she was the deputy director at the British Council. From 1996-2006 she held different leading positions at the British Embassy in Georgia.
Belarus: Valeri Kvaratskhelia. From 2014-2017 he was the Deputy Health Minister of Georgia. He worked in the private sector in 2004-2014. From 1999-2003 he was a Member of Parliament of Georgia.
Qatar: Nikoloz Revazishvili. From 2009-2017 he held different leading positions at Georgia’s Foreign Ministry. From February of 2017 to the present he has been the director of the Middle East and Africa Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. In 2004-2006 he was director of international relations and NATO integration department at the Defence Ministry of Georgia. From 2006-2009 he worked as Georgia’s representative to NATO.
Argentina: Irakli Kurashvili. From 2012 to 2017 he was Georgia’s Ambassador to Switzerland. He is an experienced diplomat who has held different leading positions at the Foreign Ministry since 1995.
Ethiopia: Zurab Dvalishvili. Since January of 2017 he has been deputy director of the Middle East and Africa Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. He has held different leading positions at the ministry since 1994. From 1997-2001 he worked at the OSCE mission.
Indonesia: Irakli Asashvili. He was Georgia’s General Consul in Turkey until September of 2017. He held different leading positions at Georgia’s Foreign Ministry since 1999.
South African Republic: Beka Dvali. He has been Georgia’s Ambassador to the Republic of South Africa from 2012 to present. He has worked at the Foreign Ministry since 2000.
Once approved by the President, the new ambassadors will take over their positions once the service term of their predecessors comes to an end.
Georgia has appointed six new ambassadors to represent the country in Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Brazil, Australia and Malaysia.

President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili has appointed ex-Deputy Foreign Minister Gigi Gigiadze as the country’s new Ambassador to Denmark.
Georgia has appointed four new ambassadors to represent Georgia in five foreign nations. The new Georgian Ambassadors will serve in Armenia, Egypt and India while another will jointly serve Sweden and Finland.
Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili has appointed a new deputy foreign minister today. Giorgi Sharvashidze was appointed to the role and he will head the economic diplomacy department at the ministry.
The Georgian Foreign Ministry has introduced two new diplomats to represent the country in Germany and the United Nations Office and other international organisations in Geneva.
Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze has thanked Georgian diplomats for their efforts towards the country’s Euro-Atlantic integration.He stated that due to the devoted work of the Georgian government and diplomats, Georgia has taken genuine steps towards NATO and EU integration.
Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Friday met Beka Dvali, Georgia’s new Ambassador to Australia, to discuss ties and the importance of maintaining a “positive dynamic” in bilateral cooperation with the country.
