Georgian and Korean relations are stepping up to a new, dynamic level with the opening of the first Republic of Korea Embassy in Georgia.
The first Korean Embassy in Georgia opened today in central Tbilisi, and will be celebrated tonight by Georgian and Korean officials at a special occasion.
Until now there was no official Korean representation in Georgia and the Korean Ambassador to Georgia had to deal with Georgia’s issues from his base in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The new office was located at 12 Tabidze St, in central Vake district.
To mark the occasion, the new Embassy of Korea to Georgia will host a grand opening reception this evening from 6-8pm at Holiday Inn Tbilisi. The event will officially inaugurate the office and serve to inform the Georgian authorities, business and media representatives and Korean citizens residing in Georgia about the activities of the new office.
The ceremony will be led by Korean Ambassador to Georgia Kim Chang-Gyu.
The new Korean Embassy office will host one diplomat, one Korean and two Georgian staff and will begin operating in spring 2016.
The office will provide a full range of services for Korean and Georgian citizens, such as visa and passport issuance and renewals, help with various document services and more.
The Consular jurisdiction of the Tbilisi office of the Embassy of Korea is Georgia.
The Tbilisi office will also provide information and offer counsel as needed for Korean companies in Georgia, as well as Georgian businesses who want to do business with Korean partners.
