Junior Georgian judoka crowned European Champion

A group of junior Georgian judokas have triumphed at a top European tournament after winning three medals, including one gold at the first day of the competition.

Georgia’s Tamaz Kirakozashvili (73kg) was crowned European champion after defeating a Slovenian opponent in the final in the Austrian city of Oberwart yesterday.

Two other Georgians, Giorgi Katsiashvili (also 73kg) and Tornike Nagliashvili (60kg) won bronze medals after defeating opponents from Kosovo and Great Britain respectively.

Five other Georgian judokas were scheduled to join the tournament today.

The competition will end with team competitions on Sunday.
