Georgian judo fans are celebrating after the nation’s junior judokas won five medals at a top European tournament.
Georgia’s Beka Gviniashvili (90kg) and Guram Tushishvili (+100) received gold medals and were crowned European champions in their respective categories at the Junior Judo European Championships in Oberwart, Austria yesterday on the second day of competition.
This came after fellow Georgian Tamaz Kirakozashvili won gold on day one of the tournament. On the same day other Georgian judokas Giorgi Katsiashvili and Tornike Nagliahsvili won bronze medals.
Gviniashvili’s victory yesterday was particularly impressive as he did not concede a single point during all five of his fights within the tournament.

Meanwhile this was the second time Tushishvili has been crowned European Champion. He was first offered the title in 2013.
