Georgia has won two gold, one silver and one bronze medal at a prestigious international karate event in Qatar.
The country sent four athletes to the 4th Qatar International Championship and all four Georgian athletes returned home with medals.
Gogita Arkania (-84kg) and Henri Vekua (-75 kg) won gold medals, and Davit Tkebuchava (-60kg) and Irakli Tkebuchava (-67kg) won silver and bronze medals, respectively.
Karate officials said the Qatar International Championship was almost as prestigious as the World Championship. World ratings defined whether or not an athlete was eligible to compete in the tournament, which had a total prize pool of $25,000 USD (about 58,000 GEL).
