Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov on Thursday conveyed condolences to his Georgian counterpart Irakli Kobakhidze over a tragic fire in the Russian-occupied Abkhazia region in the north-west of the country, which claimed the lives of five minors.
Asadov expressed “deep sorrow” over the tragedy and extended his condolences “personally” to the Georgian PM, “families and relatives of the deceased and the Georgian people”, the Government Administration said.
On Sunday, a house in the village of Saberio caught fire, killing five children from one family.
The head of the Government declared Thursday a day of mourning following the tragedy, with flags on state institutions across the country lowered to half-mast.
