Georgian PM offers condolences over death of former Mayor of Tbilisi

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday offered his condolences over the death of Niko Lekishvili, the former Mayor of the capital city of Tbilisi.

The head of the Government noted that Lekishvili had made a “special contribution” to the development of “both Tbilisi and the entire country”.

I express my deepest condolences on the passing of Mr. Niko Lekishvili. Mr. Niko served our country with outstanding loyalty and professionalism, making a special contribution to the development of both Tbilisi and the entire Georgia. My condolences to his family, relatives and the entire society”, the PM said.

Lekishvili served in the position between 1993 and 1995, and was also the State Minister of Georgia between 1995 and 1998.

He co-signed the Act of Restoration of Georgia's State Independence in 1991.
