Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday sent his condolences to the family and relatives of Avtandil Jorbenadze, the country’s former Health Minister, who passed away at the age of 73 last week.

Kobakhidze called Jorbenadze a “well-known politician and a stately individual” in the comments.

He said the late official “stood at the beginning of the construction of the independent Georgian state and served the country with loyalty and high professionalism for many years”, adding his “statecraft and love for the country was exemplary for everyone who knew him”.

Jorbenadze held the positions of the Health Minister and the Minister of Labour, Health and Social Protection, and also became the Chair of the Supervisory Board of the Emergency Cardiology Centre in the country’s capital Tbilisi in 2011.
