Georgian PM attends Legends Team football match in Batumi

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Government members on Thursday attended the first match of the Legends Series, fixtures involving internationally celebrated retired football players from Georgia and abroad, in the Black Sea city of Batumi.

The game, between the Legends Team of Georgia and Inter Milan, featured former stars like Shota Arveladze, Levan Kobiashvili, Giorgi Kinkladze, Temur Ketsbaia and Kakha Kaladze in the former squad, and Luis Figo, Javier Zanetti, Marco Materazzi and Esteban Cambiasso in the team representing former players of Internazionale.

Kaladze, the current Mayor of Tbilisi who played for AC Milan between 2001-2010, on Wednesday called the match “important” for Georgian football and promotion of sports in the country.

In his turn, Zanetti, currently the Vice-President of Inter who played for the club between 1995-2014, said in his preview of the match he knew “very well how Georgians love football”, and promised a “spectacular performance” for fans.
