Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday said the country’s “advanced position” in the Global Terrorism Index, a report published annually by the Institute for Economics and Peace, was the result of the Government’s “effective policy” in maintaining domestic “peace and stability”.
Georgia has improved its ranking by five positions in the report analysing the impact of terrorism for 163 countries covering 99.7 percent of the world's population, published last month.
In his comments on the report, Kobakhidze said the Government had managed to maintain “peace, tranquillity and stability” in the country despite being in a “very difficult region surrounded by many challenges”.
The PM extended “special gratitude” to law enforcement bodies, who he said were working “quietly but effectively to ensure peace and protect the country from terrorist threats”.
