Aleksandre Tabatadze, the First Deputy Chair of the Defence and Security Committee of the Georgian Parliament, on Tuesday said the country’s “advanced position” in Global Terrorism Index, a report published annually by the Institute for Economics and Peace, was a “recognition” of the State Security Service’s “successful” work.
Georgia has improved its ranking by five positions in the report analysing the impact of terrorism for 163 countries covering 99.7 percent of the world's population, published last month.
The State Security Service performs its duties with high professionalism and standards. Together with our strategic and international partners, the success achieved in combating global terrorism was once again confirmed in the report published by the world's leading international rating organisation”, Tabatadze said.
The official said combating terrorism required a “high level of professionalism and promptness”, and noted “special appreciation” should be given to the “round-the-clock committed effort” of the Service’s employees “unseen” by the public but “repeatedly proven by similar ratings and reports”.
