Finance Ministry investigators arrest three for selling counterfeit money

The Investigation Service of Georgia’s Ministry of Finance on Tuesday said its professionals had arrested three individuals for selling counterfeit money in separate cases in the country’s capital of Tbilisi and Black Sea city of Batumi.

The Service said in the former case, its investigation had found the offenders had sold $19,900 worth of counterfeit $100 bills in Tbilisi.

In the latter violation, the individual in question had sold four forged ₾100 ($37) bills and one fake ₾50 ($18) bill in different facilities in Batumi.

The crime is punishable by imprisonment between seven and 10 years.
