The Georgian Parliamentary delegation, led by Irakli Beraia, the Chair of the legislative body’s Defence and Security Committee, on Wednesday participated in the meeting of the Georgia-NATO Interparliamentary Council, the Parliament press office said.
Organised by the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and hosted in Brussels, the annual meeting discussed regional security and the situation in the occupied regions of Georgia, as well as the impact of the full-scale Russian aggression in Ukraine on the security of the country.

The officials reviewed Georgia’s progress on the NATO integration path and the undertaken and ongoing reforms in the country, highlighting the Alliance’s support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the European Union and NATO integration.
At the Council meeting, the Georgian side and NATO representatives emphasised the “invaluable merit” that the country contributes to the Alliance’s security.
The importance of maintaining Georgia’s issues on the political and security agenda of NATO and its allies, including the country’s de-occupation, its integration into the Alliance and strengthening Georgia’s defence and security capabilities, was also pointed out by the sides.
