Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and Susanne Baumann, the Secretary of State at the German Federal Foreign Office, on Sunday discussed the dynamics of close partnership in bilateral relations and multidimensional cooperation.
At the meeting, held on the margins of the Munich Security Conference, the sides reviewed Georgia’s European integration process, highlighting the “historic decision” of the European Council to grant the country the European Union membership candidate status on December 14, 2023.

Darchiashvili appreciated Germany’s “firm support” for Georgia’s European aspirations and emphasised the need for further support from the “partners and friends”, especially Germany, on the EU integration path.
The conversation also touched on the importance of exchanging high-level visits between the two countries' officials.
The Georgian FM thanked Baumann for Germany's “steadfast support” to Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
