Russian occupation forces have illegally detained two Georgian citizens near central Georgia’s Russian-occupied village of Knolevi in the Kareli municipality, the State Security Service of Georgia said on Friday.
The latest incident took place adjacent to the occupied Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region of the country.
The state body said it had activated the hotline operated for information exchange on developments along the occupation line, and informed the European Union monitoring mission and co-chairs of the Geneva international discussions about the incident.
The SSS also noted work was underway with international partners for releasing citizens illegally detained by the occupation forces.
