Roads Department completes renovation of 12km section of secondary road in southern Georgia

The Roads Department of Georgia on Wednesday announced the renovation of a 12 km section of the Shulaveri-Shaumiani-Sioni-Tserakvi secondary road in Kvemo Kartli region in the country’s south had been completed.

The Department said the section was located in the municipality of Marneuli, between the village of Shaumiani and the village of Tserakvi, adding it had been “badly damaged” and in “urgent” need of rehabilitation. “Technical parameters” of the road were also improved as part of the works, it added.

Road surface renovation was accompanied by repair of culverts and existing artificial structures and setting up of new ones. The section now also has connections to local roads, entrances to residents' yards and bus stops.
