Giorgi Kalandarishvili, the Chair of the Central Election Commission, on Monday held an introductory meeting with Robin Dunnigan, the United States Ambassador to Georgia, discussing the process of preparations for the 2024 parliamentary elections, the CEC said.

While reviewing the election environment in Georgia, Kalandarishvili expressed the Commission’s readiness to conduct elections in accordance with international standards and highlighted the “wide-scale” use of technologies, informing voters and important projects in this direction.
The US Embassy has always been a great supporter of the CEC and the development of electoral processes in the country, which is evidenced by our close cooperation with many international partners”, Kalandarishvili emphasised.

In her turn, Dunnigan positively assessed the activities implemented and planned by the CEC for the upcoming elections and expressed her support to the Election Administration in “this important matter”.
The employees of the CEC perform extremely important work for the democratic process. We agreed that these elections are an opportunity for Georgia to demonstrate the strength of democracy”, the Ambassador noted, stressing the goal of her country “is for the [election] process to be as transparent, free and fair as possible, and for Georgians to have the opportunity to exercise their right to vote”.
Kalandarishvili thanked Dunnigan for the Embassy’s support to the Election Commission.
