Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and the management team of TAV Airports, a part of the French ADP Group which oversees the operations of Tbilisi and Batumi international airports in the country, on Thursday discussed the potential for continued cooperation.
The Government Administration said representatives of the French holding congratulated Kobakhidze on the ruling team’s electoral victory in October and his subsequent appointment as Prime Minister, extending their “best wishes for success” in his administration.
During the meeting, the company expressed a commitment to continuing its operations of Georgian airports, as well as the upcoming new international airport in the capital city.
Representatives from TAV Airports discussed strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing the infrastructure of Tbilisi International Airport in order to accommodate an anticipated increase in passenger traffic. It is projected that by the end of this year, passenger flow at the airport will rise by an additional one million, bringing the total to nearly five million passengers, the Administration said.
The meeting also underscored “effective policies” of the Georgian Government, which the Administration said had fostered entry of new airlines into the country and boosted passenger numbers at Georgia's major international airports.
Notably, the Government's efforts in visa liberalisation with China were commended, with the initiatives expected to enhance passenger flow from China and attract “greater interest” from international airlines in the Georgian market, the Administration added.
