Anri Okhanashvili, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament's Legal Affairs Committee who on Monday was nominated for the post of the country’s Justice Minister by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, pledged to ensure implementation of priorities set out in the Government programme with “high professionalism, integrity and responsibility” in his comments on the nomination.
Okhanashvili stressed it was a “special honour” for him to “serve the public and the state” in the prospective position.
I want to thank Irakli Kobakhidze for his special confidence. It is an honour for me to be part of the Government under his leadership. Also, thanks to our political team for the great support they have shown. I would like to thank Rati Bregadze [Minister of Justice], a member of our team, for his hard work and many important reforms. I wish him success in his future endeavors”, the official said.
“It is a special honour for me to serve the public and the state. As you know, since 2012, our Government has implemented fundamental changes in justice. Accordingly, we will continue the work started by our Government and our team and, with high professionalism, integrity and great responsibility, ensure the implementation of the priorities set forth in the Government programme”, he concluded.
Earlier today, Kobakhidze announced new ministerial candidates in a cabinet reshuffle ahead of the Parliament's inaugural session. The PM revealed ruling Georgian Dream party MPs Maka Botchorishvili as the nominee for the Foreign Minister, David Songulashvili for the Minister of Environment and Agriculture, and Okhanashvili for the Justice Minister.
