Mamuka Mdinaradze, the Executive Secretary of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Friday said parliamentary officials from the previous convocation would retain their positions, with “no fundamental changes” planned, but there “will also be new developments”, following the GD’s victory in last month's general elections.
Speaking at a briefing, Mdinaradze notes recent discussions within the party had covered topics, including the candidates for Prime Minister and Parliament Speaker, organisational matters, committee chairs and deputies, as well as scheduling of Presidential elections and the resolution of budget issues by the end of the year.
On Monday morning [at the session of the 11th convocation of the Parliament], we will have to name the committee heads, parliamentary leaders, vice-speakers, etc. We will not have any special surprises with the old parliamentary officials who are current members of the Parliament of Georgia”, he said.
When asked about the potential Vice-Speaker role for former Minister of Culture, Sport and Youth, Thea Tsulukiani, Mdinaradze described her as an “excellent candidate” for the position, adding further details “will be shared on Monday”.
