The Expovina international wine exhibition, held between October 31-November 14 in Zurich, Switzerland, showcased a selection of 25 types of Georgian wines from eight producers, the Georgian National Wine Agency said on Friday.
David Tkemaladze, the Deputy Chair of the Agency, emphasised the increasing interest in Georgian wines due to marketing efforts over the recent years.
We have observed a rising interest towards Georgian wine in Switzerland [...] However, it is not enough. We must continue to enhance our efforts in promoting awareness of Georgian wine”, Tkemaladze said.
Expovina is the largest international exhibition in Switzerland, gathering thousands of guests, including sommeliers, Horeca sector professionals, and media for two weeks. Next year Expovina will commemorate its 70th anniversary, and planning for a significant representation of Georgian wines is already underway”, he added.
Zviad Arabidze, the Director of the Georgian Wine House, highlighted the importance of participating in recognised exhibitions like Expovina and said the company had selected 25 types of wine to showcase at the exhibition.
Arabidze also noted Expovina was the “most prestigious wine exhibition” in Switzerland, adding it played a “crucial role in raising awareness” of Georgian wine in the country, “ultimately boosting sales”.
