Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday said his Government remained committed to overcoming the climate crisis and continued to take “effective measures to foster positive changes”.
In his social media message, Kobakhidze emphasised the significance of the ongoing 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan, for the South Caucasus region.
I was privileged to participate in the [Conference] in Baku - a meaningful milestone for the South Caucasus region. Together with partners, we addressed climate change challenges and explored effective solutions for a sustainable future. Georgia remains devoted to overcome the climate crisis and will continue to take effective measures to foster positive change”, he said.
Running until November 22, the Conference aims to enhance efforts to address the climate crisis, with government officials set to present updated national climate action plans agreed under the 2015 Paris Agreement for limiting global warming to 1.5C degrees and promoting the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
