Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday emphasised the Government’s commitment to environmental protection, outlining constitutional guarantees that prioritise ecological rights, on the sidelines of the ongoing 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Kobakhidze reiterated the importance of sharing Georgia’s experience in environmental protection while remaining receptive to messages from international partners.

The Government of Georgia pays a lot of attention to the issues of environmental protection; it is one of the most important challenges for us. We have established the necessary guarantees in the constitution concerning ecology, ecological rights, and environmental protection. We will also share our experiences with our partners. It is crucial to pay attention to the messages from our partners on this topic”, the Prime Minister said.

The Conference, running until November 22, aims to enhance efforts to address the climate crisis, with officials from countries set to present updated national climate action plans agreed under the 2015 Paris Agreement for limiting global warming to 1.5C degrees and promoting the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
