Georgian Justice Minister Rati Bregadze on Saturday said in less than three years as many land plots had been measured and registered within the systemic land registration programme as during 30 years since the country's independence.
In his address at an event dedicated to the land registration reform, Bregadze reiterated the “main concern” of the Georgian Government was “people and their well-being”.
“Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s decision [announced in October] to extend the project [systemic land registration] for one year is the confirmation of these words”, the Minister pointed out.
In his speech at the event, Kobakhidze thanked the Justice Minister for the “successful implementation” of the reform, emphasising that as of October 2024, more than 1.5 million land plots had been measured and over a million people had become registered owners in a “record time” as part of the programme.
The Georgian Government made the decision to continue the systemic land registration programme, allowing citizens to register their land plots free of charge until the end of 2025.
