Mikheil Sarjveladze, the Georgian Minister of IDPs from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs, highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence and the necessity of ensuring gender equality in the development of the field, as well as its challenges, at the sixth International Women and Justice Summit in Istanbul, the Ministry said on Saturday.
In his speech at the ongoing Summit under the theme Artificial Intelligence and Women, which was opened by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Sarjveladze emphasised Georgia’s efforts in expanding STEM - science, technology, engineering and mathematics - education for girls as part of ensuring gender equality.
The country is actively working to find young innovators so that they can obtain practical experience in working with artificial intelligence tools and take part in the development of these technologies. Through supporting and educating these talented young people, we can increase the number of female leaders in AI, which will impact inclusivity in technologies”, the Minister noted.
Sarjveladze also highlighted the influence of AI on early detection of women’s diseases, particularly in the direction of breast and cervical cancers.
The Women and Justice Summit, held biennially, is an international event focused on issues related to women, family, and society.
