Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday said he had had a “very friendly and constructive” conversation with Charles Michel, the President of the European Council, on the sidelines of the European Political Community Summit in Budapest.
In his comments for the press, Kobakhidze highlighted Michel’s “interest in current [political] developments in Georgia”.
“I told Charles Michel about the current situation in Georgia, including the fact that it is difficult for the opposition to mobilise people, the opposition has no public support [after not recognising the last month’s general election results]”, he said, claiming the opposition parties “have fewer resources [in this case] than they had four years ago [during the boycott of the 2020 October parliamentary elections]”.
The Head of the Government added he had reiterated to the President of the European Council that his Government “is absolutely open and flexible” for any discussion.
