Hungarian FM on Georgian elections: “people made it clear what they want”

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó on Saturday said the “people of Georgia have made it clear what they want” as he congratulated the ruling Georgian Dream party on election victory with an “overwhelming margin, despite attempts of interference”.

In his social media message, Szijjártó portrayed the GD as a “patriotic, pro-family” party.

The Foreign Minister further promised his “Georgian friends all the support for the success of their European integration efforts” during the Hungarian presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The Central Election Commission of Georgia on Sunday published updated data of preliminary results of the parliamentary elections held on Saturday, with the ruling Georgian Dream party leading with 54.234 percent of votes.
