István Hollik, a member of the European Parliament and the National Assembly of Hungary who is observing the ongoing Georgian parliamentary elections in the country, on Saturday claimed the elections would have a “huge legitimacy” due to the  “peaceful” proceedings of the vote.

Hollik praised the overall process of the elections by saying “in the direction of elections, there is progress in the country”.

“By our assessment, there is considerable progress in this direction. The outcome of the elections and who will form the next Government will have a huge legitimacy, because the election process is going on in a peaceful environment”, he said.

A total of 1,768,816 voters had cast their ballots in the country by 5pm, for a turnout of 50.6 percent, the country’s Central Election Commission said.
