Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Saturday congratulated the country on making the “right decision” in general elections, saying the ruling Georgian Dream party was to “begin a new chapter and move forward with dignity, unity and dedication to bring Georgia to one of its biggest goals - EU accession and to build a better and prosperous future for our nation”.
In his social media message, Darchiashvili claimed the parliamentary elections had “proven that our country is pursuing the path of democracy, peace, stability, and development”.
The latest updated results of the elections published by the Central Election Commission of Georgia on Sunday showed the GD party leading with 54.234 percent of votes.
