Georgian PM casts ballot, calls process “very principled, decisive election”

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze cast his vote earlier today in the parliamentary elections, highlighting the significance of the electoral process as a “very principled, decisive election”.

Kobakhidze noted the election was equivalent to a “referendum”, where the “direction of the country's development must once again be finally decided”.

This is a referendum between war and peace, immoral propaganda and traditional values, and between the past and the country's bright future”, he said.

We have very optimistic expectations, anticipating for up to 60 percent votes from our citizens. This is fundamentally important for the country to continue its stable and peaceful development”, the PM added.

The Georgian Central Election Commission has registered 3,508,294 eligible voters, with 3,113,747 casting their ballots electronically. A total of 3,111 polling stations will serve voters, including 3,044 within Georgia. Overseas voting is set up across 67 stations in 53 cities within 42 countries. Eighteen political parties and alliances have presented their party lists for the election.
