Georgia’s Central Election Commission on Thursday said the number of eligible voters residing abroad for participation in the October 26 parliamentary elections constituted 95,834, based on the latest information provided by the country’s Foreign Affairs Ministry and other relevant agencies.

The CEC also noted that as announced in its previous session in September, 60 election precincts in 42 countries had been already established to serve 65,508 voters abroad for the upcoming elections, and added that the opening of additional seven polling stations for 30,326 voters would be also discussed at the meeting of the Commission on Friday.

At the meeting, the Election Administration will also address the issue of the already-opened polling station in Israel, based on the Foreign Ministry’s letter, which outlines “the circumstances and risks arising from the current situation” in the city of Ramat-Gan in Israel and the challenges affecting the operation of the election precinct under these conditions.

It also pointed out that the CEC would provide detailed information on the status of polling stations abroad to the public after its session and urged “all interested parties to refrain from using the issues regarding the out-of-country voting for political manipulation, as this undermines the electoral environment”.
